Concepts About Life

Many of us are used to holding it together with our will. The stronger our will, the more powerful we have been...We have created many things by taking aspects of reality and shaping it with our will. There comes a time in many people's lives when the game simply loses its joy....There comes a time when trying to hold it all together with the will becomes exhausting. There comes a time when we simply evolve our consciousness and open to another way of being. |

There do in fact exist creators, seers, sages, saints, shakers, and movers...even if they are uncommon and do not come by the dozen. And yet these very same people can at times be boring, irritating, petulant, selfish, angry or depressed. To avoid disillusionment with human nature, we must first give up our illusions about it. - Abraham Maslow
Those of us who are devoted to personal and spiritual growth can put a tremendous amount of pressure on ourselves to be perfect. While it's powerful to hold ourselves to high standards and aim for clear ideals, no one can be endlessly patient, selfless and compassionate all the time. In fact, when we start to feel irritable and burned out, it's usually because we're pushing ourselves to be superhuman, and are expecting far more of ourselves than is reasonable.
- Julia Melges-Brenner, editor of Kajama |
